The May 2012 Leadership Event by Melissa Velez

Wow…This event truly changed my belief of network marketing and Visionaries Worldwide.  Our team leaders, who just a year and a half ago were starting off just as I am now, really made all the difference to me while they explained and demonstrated the details of our organization.  We worked on building our belief, dreams and confidence.  I enjoyed learning how to grow my business and grow myself!

During the event I could feel the energy of every other person in the room…and there were many.  Our guest speakers were quite motivating.  It was intense and awakening.  The small groups we formed allowed us to bond with people both familiar and new while we learned about the industry, the company, ourselves and each other.  A powerful sense of belonging overcame me. 

At the end we did a little exercise that was huge in meaning.  Basically everything in life is mind over matter.  On wooden boards we each wrote…on one side was the negative stuff that prevents us from achieving our goals…on the other, we wrote our aspirations.  Then we each took turns karate chopping our boards, breaking through the negative to reach our positive.  No words can describe the overwhelming emotion in the room as this went on.  The symbolism was profound.

Arthur Schoppenhauer once said that every new idea goes through three stages. First it is ridiculed, then it is violently opposed, and finally it becomes self evident.

Network Marketing, as a system, is not universally accepted, nor is our system of weight loss or our Compensation Plan. You’ll find people who still think they have to restrict calories or count “points” and weigh in each week in order to lose weight and keep it off. But we can promise that we, as a company, have created a unique opportunity and products people can use to build an exceptional residual income.

We’ve all heard the complaints, “nobody opens e-mails anymore,” “Facebook only gets through to the social media junkies,” “my team won’t get on our conference calls,” “I have to send texts or voice mails to get any reaction,” and on and on.

Communications have morphed so much in the last few years that we’re all scratching our heads wondering if anyone or anything we say can cut through the information glut we’re all experiencing. Busy, part-time Distributors with full-time jobs have a hard time taking it all in, especially if it gets redundant or has little relevance to their success.

Here’s our take…The glass is half full. Today there are many more ways to communicate easily and affordably than ever before. All we have to do is (1) provide truly useful messages so people will always want to hear it and even look forward to it, and (2) send it out in all the ways people like to connect.
